Our business is committed to reducing the impact of healthcare delivery on the environment.
Located in Riverview, FL, our reprocessing manufacturing facility has operated on a zero waste to landfill model since 2016. This model allows us to manage the end life cycle of single use devices which cannot be reprocessed as well as manufacturing by-product.
As our business evolves, we are making a concerted effort to expand our reprocessing capabilities and identify new technologies to increase material reclamation.
Our zero waste to landfill model has furthered our sustainability efforts and impact. All end of life devices are addressed through the following methods:
Recycling and reclamation
We remove large amounts of waste from our facility without impacting waste streams through battery, corrugate, e-waste, single steam and scrap recycling.
Composting
We pelletize and mold plastics at our facility into recycled products. We even composte our coffee grounds and cups to ensure office waste sources are addressed.
Waste-to-energy
Devices with bioburden or multiple material substrates that cannot be separated are sent to waste-to-energy services. This offers a more responsible alternate for byproduct than a permanent place in the landfill.
Corporate citizenship
Sustainable Technologies is one part of the Corporate Citizenship taking place at Cardinal Health. Our annual report sheds light on the ways we work to make the world a better place every day.
